Light Box Arts Creations -- a Crafty Weekends Review & Link Party

Disclosure: Light Box Arts sent me a voucher to create this light box on their site in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Confession time, I am not a very good drawer.  When I try to draw or paint I am never happy with my work. However I am excellent at using computers to create fun artwork. I am also a great cutter and paster. So when Light Box Arts asked if I would like to try out their new Design Yours feature on their site, I jumped at the opportunity.

Light Box Arts offers pre-designed light boxes as well. There are many different categories like Attitude, Vacation, Inspirational, Kids, and more. These are fun and beautiful, but I was excited to make something personal. I thought a personal light box would be perfect to celebrate our 11 year anniversary this summer. I got to work. I Googled for some ideas for anniversary quotes and found "Once upon a time I became yours and you became mine and we will stay together through both the tears and the laughter because that is what they call happily ever after." I loved it and wanted to add it to our wedding picture.

It was very easy to create my own. They offer templates where you can customize one of their designs with names, dates or backgrounds or there is a blank template which is what I used. I uploaded our wedding photograph first and then played with the fonts and colors to get the quote on it. Then I got to pick the frame color from four choices.
I am very happy with how it came out. Hazel is upset I didn't make a family one so she could be in the picture. The light boxes are small. I hadn't realized just how small they are. They are six-inch squares.  They are battery operated and do not come with batteries. The inserts are interchangeable, so I can order just an insert next and be able to put it in this light box. The inserts are on plastic like plexiglass. They actually sent me an extra insert because they had trouble with the spacing of some of my words. I am thinking of putting on a ribbon and using it as a suncatcher. What do you think?

I love the lighted effect on the picture. Without the light on it is very dark and hard to see. The quality is very good and I love seeing my creation in the lighted frame.
Sorry it is really hard to get a good photograph of the light box and be able to see all the details. I love how it came out and Steve really likes it. We decided to put it on our living room mantel. There we can turn the light on or off easily without having to take it off the wall. It however does hang on a wall if wanted. I think these beautiful light boxes make such fun and personal gifts. Be sure to head over and give it a try!
